It has been three months since he was found cold, frightened and exhausted at a wealthy man’s door in the middle of the night with no clue as to the events which had brought him to this place other than a woman’s bracelet he was clutching in his hand. He is hypnotized by Dr Linfield, a pioneering psychiatrist . . . but perhaps the past is better left forgotten. Not suitable for young children and people of a nervous disposition.

Linking Honeywood Museum, Sutton Ecology Centre, Carshaton Water Tower, All Saints Church and Carshalton House to celebrate Sutton’s festival of participatory arts. There will be lots of fun activities and workshops to join in with, exhibitions and architecture to see, entertainment to enjoy, new skills to try and crafts to sample, all celebrating the Arts and the creative spirit to be found in the community.

A HOUSE THROUGH TIME EXHIBITION

Visitors will be able to view an exhibition looking back over the evolution of Whitehall from domestic home to historic house. This coincides with the 30th pearl anniversary year of Whitehall opening to the public. The display will explore inventions and ideas over the last 500 years that have affected the development of Whitehall and the people who lived there. There will be quizzes and trails based on this theme for children. £1.60 adults, 80p children

KATY & THE NURGLA
Secombe Theatre

Katy’s holiday in Majorca turns into an unexpected adventure when she meets the Nurgla, a mysterious sea monster with an eventful past. Katy and the Nurgla explores how two ‘chalk and cheese’ individuals learn how to appreciate each other’s differences, creating an incredible bond and friendship as they do so. Pandora’s Box bring this beautiful story of friendship to life by using a colourful mixture of puppetry, music, comedy and even a little magic! Goon Show star Sir Harry Secombe wrote this – his first children’s story – for his little daughter Katy, who grew up to be a co-founder of Pandora’s Box, which makes it even more special for the company.

SALSA NIGHT

Come dance the night away with the World Salsa champions Chris Marques and Jacqui Spencer; dance coaches to the celebrity contestants of BBC 1 Strictly Ballroom series. Jacqui and Chris will be offering a master class followed by a demonstration of their Cuban Groove salsa moves. The class is suitable for all abilities and there will be the opportunity to continue practicing the moves into the night as the party continues.

CARSHALTON WATER TOWER OPEN
An opportunity to see this unique early 18th century garden building sited in the grounds of Carshalton House. It contained a water-powered pump, and a suite of rooms such as the Saloon, Orangery, and a spectacular 18th century bathroom with a tile lined plunge bath.

Take a look at our exhibition of stunning Wildlife and Landscape photography – a display of work by photographer Nick Woodford and by local people, celebrating the beauty of nature in the Carshalton area.
Take part in a variety of exciting hands-on art & craft workshops led by professional artists, exploring our relationship with the amazing world around us.

Environmental Artist Marlis Scholz will be running creative workshops in the grounds. Using natural materials found on a walk in the Nature Reserve, create beautiful works of art and imaginative natural sculptures. These ephemeral artworks will then be recorded using the medium of photography, before they are left to gradually melt back into the natural landscape. 11am-1pm and 2-4pm.

Expert Photographer Nick Woodford will lead a workshop on Nature Photography, where you can pick up some handy tips & tricks for capturing magical moments in the wild. 1-2pm

Join Nick Woodford on a walk around the grounds looking through the lens at colours, shapes and textures in nature. Capture the new natural sculptures on camera, before they return to the earth. 4-5pm.

IRISH CÉILI
Secombe Theatre Function Room

A great opportunity to experience traditional live Irish music and dancing. The music will be performed by local musicians Paul Cassidy and band including traditional instruments such as the fiddle and bodhrain. Beautifully costumes Irish dancers will demonstrate reels and jigs. A family event for all to experience and celebrate local Irish culture. Guaranteed to be lively and entertaining.

An evening celebrating the work of Emma Critchley who, together with swimming development officer Nick Ibrahim, has worked with a small number of young adults with a varying range of disabilities to produce a highly unique body of work. These distinctive photographs portray the transformation of feelings that occur, both physically and mentally, when submerged underwater. The images aim to not only explore these issues of the body in an altered space, but also be a celebration of the human body and the amazingly positive ways in which the water can stimulate our senses.
